As previously mentioned in our bulletins, the time to change the composition of the current ECSA Council has come. The nomination process began towards the end of 2015 and the review process is underway, meaning that the plan to inaugurate the newly appointed representatives for the next four year term should be achieved in June/July as planned.

ECSA attended the Africa Energy indaba conference and Exhibition from the 16 to 17 February 2016 at the Sandton Convention Centre. The main intention of attending this event was to promote the benefits of registration with ECSA, promoting the ECSA brand as well as explaining how the ECSA registration process functions. This is also aimed at making ECSA accessible and visible to their stakeholders.

Engenius participated at the Working World Exhibition (WWE) held at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium which took place from 16 to 18 February 2016. The purpose of attending this event was to encourage learners to study engineering as a career of choice. This will then contribute into increasing the number of students enrolling into engineering study disciplines in tertiary institutions. This eventually will increase the number of engineering practitioners.

Engenius represented ECSA at a My Future Career Exhibition on 18 February 2016 at False Bay College Khayelitsha. Engenius’ aim was to educate learners and students of Khayelitsha and other surrounding areas of the importance or choosing pure maths and science at school. This enables them to meet the requirements for a study career in engineering, which subsequently would add the number of much-need engineers in South Africa.

Engenius participated at South Africa’s National Science Festival, aptly known as Sci-fest Africa from 02 –08 March 2016. The event was themed: ‘’A matter of time’’ to create a worm-hole through which you can travel between the past, present and future. The objectives of this annual science festival were to promote a deeper understanding and appreciation of science, technology, engineering, mathematics and innovation. This was achieved through a six-day programme covering a variety of different formats and subjects related to the field.

The Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) endorsed the Power & Electricity World Africa event which will took place from 15 – 16 March 2016 at the Sandton convention Centre, Johannesburg, South Africa. This event was also CPD validated in order to provide value to the ECSA registered persons. It is important for ECSA to assist registered persons for CPD as 25 CPD credits are required in order for professionals to renew their registration with ECSA after every 5 years.
